Socks are among the most needed items at homeless shelters, yet among the least often donated.

Help us improve the health and quality of life for those experiencing homelessness with The Joy of Sox!

When I first learned of the dire need for sock donations three years ago, I was shocked. Socks are so simple, yet something so many of us take for granted and certainly never think to donate to shelters or folks in need. Turns out socks don't just keep your feet warm (though this is incredibly important during the winter months), they also protect from a gamut of serious foot diseases (swelling, blisters, infections) that could simply be avoided by wearing new, dry socks. My aunt Kelly and I set out to do something about this.

We began a partnership with The Joy of Sox , a Philadelphia-based non-profit that has a mission of providing the joy of new socks to the homeless across the country. We proudly hold the title of "Milwaukee Sock Angels." In 2015 your support helped us buy and collect 2,147 pairs of socks, including a generous corporate donation of 600 pairs. In 2016, we ran a smaller campaign, and you again helped us to buy and distribute more than 1,300 pairs. Last year, we ran our biggest campaign ever, and bought and collected more than 5,200 pairs with the help of two high schools and several local businesses. That's more than 8,600 pairs of socks distributed in our community to folks that need them most.

We once again have two local high schools, Grafton and Cedarburg, running drives, as well as Sox Boxes at Lakeshore Dance (3 locations), the Dance Academy, Clementine Salon, Studios @ Forte, Valley Skin Studios, Grafton Chamber of Commerce, ZuZu Pedals, and more. Any and all support is much appreciated!

I think this year, with your help, we can collect over 4,000 pairs. All donations go towards buying socks and everything we collect and buy is distributed locally. We tie ribbons around each pair and will personally hand them out at St. Ben's meal program over several weeks, with the help of high school students, friends, and family. We will seek additional programs if donations allow. If you are able to volunteer your time to help prepare the socks, please let me know.

If you would like to donate socks, gift cards, or cash to us directly, please reach out! The need is great and anything is appreciated! I can also receive donations via Venmo at @sami-grady.

Thank you, thank you, for your support
